On July 10th, the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) announced that 72 players had tested positive for COVID-19. As of July 28th, 107 players had tested positive during the offseason and 21 since players began to report to summer camps, for a total of 128 players testing positive so far.
During the offseason, 2,880 players are rostered by NFL teams. Starting Week 1, that number is reduced to 1,760 players.
How many total players will have tested positive for COVID-19 by the end of the 2020 season (to include the postseason or any other "end" such as cancellation prior to any game being played or early end of the season prior to the postseason), according to the NFLPA?
This question will resolve to the total number of players tested positive, including offseason, regular season, and postseason, according to NFLPA's COVID-19 Updates & Information page. In the event the season is delayed, the closing date for this question will be pushed back to cover the last game of the 2020 season. In the event the NFLPA no longer provides the total number of positive players, the number will be calculated by piecing together NFL news articles, such as this one.
Question clarification
In the event the season is cancelled, cancellation would constitute the "end of the 2020 season" and this question would resolve to the number of positives as defined on the NFLPA's website at time of cancellation.
The question description has been updated to clarify that the offseason count does not include the count of players testing positive during training camp, therefore this question will resolve according to the total of those counts plus any additional counts for regular season, postseason, etc.
